Dyeing Corn

This was a learning experience. It took a day longer than we thought it would! The green and blue did not come out nearly as dark as hoped either, but the colors look great!

First you would dye the corn like you would dye Easter eggs.

Supplies:

  • Cups
  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Food coloring (regular not gel)
  • Corn ( I bought corn to be used for popping popcorn)

I put about half a cup of water (more or less your choice) in a cup, Add about a tablespoon of vinegar and food coloring. The more food coloring the deeper the color. I let them sit in the cups for a full two days. I laid them out to dry and then placed them in a container until we use them.

We mixed them all together! We will be using them for a sensory bin but also a fun art project in the next few weeks!!! Stayed tuned for photos of the art project!!
